The length of time your dentures last can depend on how much use you give them and how well you look after them. If they are looked after they should last for several years. We recommend that to achieve the best amount of time from them that they are cleaned frequently and that you have them checked by a Dental Professional regularly.
Of course, as time goes by they will suffer from natural wear and tear. As you age, your dentures may become loose as your bite changes and your gums shrink back. In some cases modifications to your existing dentures can be made.
If you are finding that your dentures are breaking frequently then it is highly likely that a new set will be recommend and this may be more cost effective than having the continual expense of a denture repair.
Yes. If you have any spaces in your mouth, your existing teeth will naturally move to take up some of the space. This may result in your teeth looking crooked or tilted. If this occurs your bite may be affected which may cause other teeth becoming damaged.
Keep all pieces of your denture in a glass of cold water so that they do not dry out. Contact either your dentist or a Dental Technician to arrange an appointment for them to be repaired. Here at The Denture Studios, we can offer a quick, 1 hour service and also operate an Emergency out of hours service should you require. We strongly recommend that you do not attempt to repair the denture yourself as glue can melt the acrylic and may result in the denture not fitting comfortably and a technician not being able to adjust.
